Mega Oil Plantation Drive in Northeast: Industry Experts Come Together to Kickstart Initiative
The Government of India under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) has initiated a Mega Oil Plantation Drive from July 25 to August 5, 2023. To commemorate this initiative, a roundtable was organized in Guwahati. It witnessed participation from Godrej Agrovet Ltd, Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India and Solidaridad Network. The discussion revolved around the importance of oil palm cultivation for the Northeast and how it can uplift the farmers in the region.

Boosting India's Chemicals & Petrochemicals Sector: Government Contemplates PLI Scheme, Says FM Nirmala Sitharaman
Today, Nirmala Sitharaman, the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs for the Government of India, expressed the significant potential of the Indian chemicals and petrochemicals sector, emphasizing its influence on various other industries within the economy. The minister highlighted that the sector's importance is evident from its production of a vast array of 80,000 products, spanning crucial fields such as agriculture, infrastructure, textiles, and packaging.

Forest Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 Approved by Lok Sabha
The Lok Sabha has recently approved the Forest Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which was introduced by Shri Bhupendra Yadav, the Union Minister for Forest, Environment, and Climate Change. The bill underwent scrutiny by a joint committee of Parliament before being presented for approval in the House. After thorough discussions among the members, the bill was passed.

New Agriculture Engineering College to Thrill Ara Residents
The decision of the state government to set up an agriculture engineering college in Ara, Bhojpur district, has been met with widespread approval from residents and stakeholders. The state cabinet, during a meeting on Tuesday, finalized the plan for the college, which will be constructed on a land area of more than 25 acres owned by the agriculture department. The chosen location for the college is the Japani farm area, adjacent to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Ara.

Mumbai Rains: Record 1557.8 mm Rainfall Amid Red Alert and City Shutdown
On Wednesday, Mumbai experienced relentless and intense showers, leading to the city recording its highest rainfall for the month of July. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the total rainfall so far in July reached a record-breaking 1557.8 mm. The previous highest July rainfall on record was in 2020, when the IMD's Santacruz observatory, representing Mumbai's suburbs, recorded 1502 mm of rainfall.
