Direct Benefit Transfer: Over Rs. 15 Crore Transferred to Farmers in Haryana

Over 15 Crore rupees have been transferred directly to the bank accounts of farmers for the procurement of their wheat crop by government agencies.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that under the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, over 15 Crore rupees have been transferred directly into the bank accounts of farmers for the procurement of wheat crop by government agencies. 

Minister Chautala said that this time wheat procurement in Haryana started from April 1, and so far 85.3 lakh MT has been procured. 

While talking to media persons, Chautala said that this time 82.1 lakh MT of wheat has been lifted from mandis in a record time and as result farmers didn’t have to face loss due to the storm and rain.  

The Minister added that “For the first time in the country, the Haryana government made a provision under which 9 percent interest was to be paid to the farmer if there was a delay in making payment. About Rs. 77 lakh have been given to farmers as additional interest in such cases.” 

About Mustard Crop 

Deputy Chief Minister while giving the information about the mustard crop said that the last time over 7 lakh MT of mustard was procured at MSP, which is increased to Rs. 4,650 per quintal. 

And not only this, Minister claimed that “The state government did not have to procure a single grain of mustard on MSP this time, as farmers were paid Rs. 7,275 per quintal in the market.” 

Health Facilities in Rural Areas 

The Minister reiterated the commitment to increase health facilities in rural areas. He said, “an amount of Rs. 18.40 crore for 6,136 gram panchayats with a population of less than 10,000 and Rs. 4.90 crore for 98 gram panchayats with a population over 10,000, has been approved to build isolation wards in villages. A team of 10 members will look after the health facilities in these isolation wards, five members will be from the health department and the other five from the gram panchayat.”  

Tauktae Alert for Next 48 Hours 

Additionally, the Minister also warned the people regarding Tauktae which is approaching the state. He also urged people to stay alert during the next 48 hours and not to step out of their homes.
