The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said that as part of its ''Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana'', the state government will waive off agricultural loans of around 25 lakh farmers in the next 4 days.
While addressing a function on 3rd March 2019 in Rajgarh district the Chief Minister said the farm loan waiver process would go on until all the beneficiaries are covered in it.
He said, "In the next 4 days agricultural loans of 25 lakh cultivators will be waived off and the process will continue for the ones left behind or remaining". He added that his government has been continuously working since coming in power 65 days back (December 2018) to fulfill promises made to the farmers in the Congress'' election manifesto.
On the occasion, the Madhya Pradesh CM also presented loan waiver certificates to a number of farmers in the state.
According to a government official, in Rajgarh district alone, farm loans worth Rs. 144 crore have been waived.
Shri Nath further said that his government was looking for ways to improve job opportunities for the youth and attract investment in Madhya Pradesh.
He also laid the foundation stones for irrigation & drinking water projects and a-132/33 Kilovolt capacity electricity sub centre at the event.
Member of Parliament, Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Jaivardhan Singh along with state Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh also addressed the gathering.
The Madhya Pradesh government's Jai Kisan Rin Mukti Yojana scheme aims at waiving off loans worth Rs. 50,000 crore of around 55 lakh small and marginal farmers. It was announced on 17th December 2018 and got cabinet’s approval on 5th January 2019.
