Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, also known as PM-Kisan yojana has completed almost 18 months. It is important to mention that this is the first scheme that directly transfers money into farmers' bank accounts. During this period, more than 9 crore farmers have received cash assistance of around Rs. 73000 crores for farming. Registration of PM-Kisan is going on so if you haven’t applied till now then hurry up.
The government keeps making changes in this scheme for the benefit of farmers and if you know about it, then it will be easy to get Rs 6000 annually. During the lockdown, an installment of Rs 2000 was sent directly into the account of more than 9 crore farmers. And the next installment will be transferred in the month of August.
Important changes made in PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana
Aadhaar Card Mandatory: To take advantage of this scheme, the government was asking for Aadhaar card since the beginning. But was later exemption was provided to the farmers. But now again aadhaar card is compulsory to get the benefit of PM-Kisan.
Facility of self-registration to farmers: The government introduced Self-registration method to increase the number of beneficiaries. Whereas earlier registration had to be done through Lekhpal, Agriculture department etc. Now if the farmer has a revenue record, Aadhaar card, mobile number and bank account number, then he can register himself by going to the Farmers Corner at pmkisan.nic.in.
The facility to know status: After registration, to know whether your application is accepted or not you do not have to visit agriculture department office as it can be easily done at home. Farmers can check their status by entering the Aadhaar number, mobile number and bank account number at official website.
Kisan Credit Card: Now KCC has also been added to PM Kisan Scheme. This has been done so that the process of making Kisan Credit Card becomes easier. At present, about 7 crore farmers have KCC, while the government wants more farmers to take benefit of Kisan Credit card for various agricultural purposes.
