The government is re-introducing the “Yeshasvini” health insurance scheme for farmers. The scheme, which is slightly changed from the earlier one, aims to provide access to quality medical facilities to the farming community with a financial allocation of Rs. 300 crore.
Under the interest subsidy scheme, the Karnataka government has been planned to disburse Rs. 24,000 crore of agricultural loans to around 33 lakh farmers this year. Of these, 3 lakh beneficiaries will be new farmers, as per the State Budget, presented by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai last week.
Medical Benefits provided to farmers under Yeshasvini health insurance scheme

Surgical procedures of more than 800 types specified by the Yeshasvini Trust are covered under the scheme at rates pre-negotiated with the partner hospitals.

Medical emergencies such as dog bite, snake bite, bull gore injuries, electric shocks, accidents during agricultural practices are covered under it.

Normal delivery, angioplasty procedures & neonatal care are covered under the scheme.
Who is eligible for Yeshasvini card?
An applicant should be a member of the co-operative society to get benefits of this scheme. Earlier only one person from the family could take benefit of the scheme but now all family members can get health facilities through Yeshasvini card.
How to apply for Yeshasvini health insurance scheme

First, go to the official website of the government, then register yourself and fill in the required details. Finally, submit all the details.
90% percent subsidy to encourage drip irrigation for horticultural crops
Besides, efforts are being made to establish a mega milk dairy of 1 lakh litre capacity in Haveri district, according to the State Budget. The Budget also announced a new scheme ‘Raitha Shakti’ to provide diesel subsidy of Rs. 250 / acre to encourage the use of farm machinery & reduce the burden of fuel.
In addition, Krishi Yantradhare Centres would be extended to all hoblis in Karnataka to make farm machinery affordable to small farmers. For conservation of water, it has been decided to offer 90% percent subsidy to SC & ST beneficiaries and 75 percent subsidy to other farmers to encourage drip irrigation for horticultural crops.
