India’s first Agriculture Export Facilitation Centre (AFEC) is established at Pune, Maharashtra by Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) in association with the National Bank.
The center was inaugurated by G.S. Rawat, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Pune regional office.
AFEC will work as a one-stop centre for the potential agriculture & food products exporters from Maharashtra as well as boost agricultural exports from the region, as per global standards. The centre would guide the prospective exporters on various relevant aspects of the farm to fork chain of agro – exports through its experts.
It aims at boosting the agri-exports of Maharashtra by disseminating information, providing timely guidance and organizing training courses.
It will cater to the needs of farmers, FPOs, MSMEs in agriculture & food processing, existing and new exporters by helping them through the various stages involved in exporting products.
This centre will provide expert guidance on topics such as orchard management, minimum residue level, branding and marketing, special export treatments, country-wise protocols, quality parameters, special certifications requirements and government export schemes.
Why is the Agriculture Export Facilitation center important?
India launched the Agri export policy in 2018, which aimed to agriculture exports to 60 billion USD by 2022. This center will help India reach its target.
