Patancheru police in Telangana raided a milk factory in the Pashamailaram industrial estate on the city's outskirts and seized adulterated dairy products, primarily curd and cheese (paneer) early this week. Police discovered many used buckets of premium dairy brands on the industrial facilities.
Police discovered many used buckets of premium dairy brands on the industrial facilities. Ravindar Rao, the manager of Mahendri Dairy Products, was arrested and a cheating complaint was registered. Bheem Reddy, deputy superintendent of police in Patancheru told that the factory's management was preparing curd with a combination of milk, skimmed milk powder, and chemicals.
"Around 50 top brand used buckets filled with curd, created in the factory, were found." They supply it to hotels, particularly in the Old City. They supply 1,000 kg to 5,000 kg of curd every day. Even the milk powder they use is not branded," he stated. Pavitra Dairy Products Private Limited owns the plant, which was leased to Mahendri Dairy Products, which is owned by G Venkateswara Rao. "We found milk, curd, kova sweet, paneer, and ghee. The majority of the products do not meet market criteria.
They are offering all leading brands that have been adulterated at a lower price. It is a major health hazard. We have informed the food inspector of the area for strict action,” said Bheem Reddy.
Ravindar Rao informed cops that Mahendri Dairy was supplying the products to Old City hotels. "We seized 6,000 liters of white liquid that they claimed to be milk." The facility contains large milk containers and packing machinery. It also has a testing lab," said the DSP.
"We closed the factory due to the pandemic," Pavitra Dairy's Sareen Kumar Gogi told. There were no operations for six to seven months. G Venkateswara Rao has recently leased the unit from us. He has been overseeing the factory for the past two months. We are not in charge of the unit."
"Venkateswara Rao stated he wanted the factory on lease for chilling purposes," Sareen Kumar stated. Purchasing empty buckets, on the other hand, is a violation. Skimmed milk powder can be used to balance solids-not-fat (SNF) in purchased milk, which is not prohibited."
Venkateswara Rao was not reachable on phone.
