Maritime and agriculture exports are ranked third among Moroccan export sectors, according to the ministry, emphasizing the sector's improvement in 2022 despite an unfavourable global environment.

The new data also show a positive trend in fresh fruit and vegetable exports, which reached 2.3 million tonnes last year, representing a 10% increase year on year.

Soft fruit exports increased by 20%, with a volume of 131,900 tonnes. The ministry also emphasized Morocco's exports to the American market, which saw a significant increase in citrus exports.

Exports of fishery products increased by 13% in volume and 16% in value to MAD 28 billion ($2.72 billion), according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, canned fish exports increased by 7% in volume and 30% in value over the previous year, while processed agricultural product exports increased by 5% in volume and 19% in value.

According to the same statistics, olive oil exports increased by 85% in volume and 49% in value during the same period. The data from the ministry confirms the findings of the most recent statistics from Morocco's Exchange Office (EO), which showed that the country's goods exports totaled $37.32 billion as of the end of November 2022.

The figure represents a 33.1% increase, or $9.2 billion, and the EO attributed the increase to the recovery of key sectors such as phosphates, agriculture, and automotive.

According to the data, Morocco's agriculture and agri-food exports stood at MAD 73.8 billion ($7 billion) at the end of November 2022, up from MAD 62.36 billion (5.97 billion) in 2021.
