National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), on May 6, declared that it signed an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL). The objective is to promote efficient renewable technologies in the dairy sector.

As per reports, the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed in Anand, Gujarat, on May 5 by the Executive Director of NDDB, Meenesh Shah, and by the Diretor (Projects) of EESL, Venkatesh Dwivedi. This was done in the presence of senior officials.

What does the agreement say?

As per the MoU, EESL will conceptualize, put forward, and design alternate solutions for generation of energy for plants that come under the dairy cooperative sector throughout the country. These solutions will be technically sound.

In addition, it will arrange for the required funding and technical support for designing, developing, and operating non-conventional models for energy generation.

On the other hand, NDDB will provide its expertise in dairy plant management, dairy business, and other related activities to support or facilitate in the conceptualization, development, and implementation of the solutions put forward by the EESL.

Apart from this, the Dairy Board will aid in developing, supervising, and examining programs so that the outcome or impact of projects can be assessed.

The Chairperson of NDDB, Varsha Joshi, spoke on the occasion that NDDB and EESL will work together towards the development of energy-efficient business models designed for dairy cooperative institutions. These solutions will be transparent, flexible, and scalable so that they can comfortably embrace emerging technologies and be beneficial for stakeholders too.

Joshi emphasized on the need of promoting energy models that are financially and technically sound. They should meet the requirements of hot water, steam, and electricity for the dairy cooperative network.

The Vice Chairman of EESL, Saurabh Kumar said that a strong dairy cooperative network has the potential to economize operational costs through the adoption of energy-efficient solutions.
