Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana: Rs.1522 Crore Transferred into Farmers’ Bank Account

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel has made a payment of Rs.1522 crore to the bank accounts of nearly 21 lakh farmers of the state on the occasion of birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi.

The amount of Rs.3 crore 49 lakh has also transferred for the cattle rearers and to the Gauthan committees and women self-help groups under Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana 

Baghel on the occasion said the government has adopted the vision of Rajiv Gandhi to eliminate poverty and build a self-reliant India in Chhattisgarh. He said, "Following the path shown by him, the state government has started many welfare programs and schemes for all sections of the people including the poor, farmers, tribals. 'Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana' has been started to provide remunerative price to the farmers for their produce”. 

A state government press release read, "The government has expanded the scope of this scheme from Kharif season 2021 to include paddy as well as other Kharif crops. Along with this, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen BhoomheenKrishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana is being started to provide financial help to the landless agricultural laborers of rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, 6000 rupees will be given annually to such families of rural areas, who do not have agricultural land and are associated with MNREGA or agricultural wages”, a state government press release read. 

As part of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, in 2020-21 an amount of more than 5,600 crore rupees has been issued to about 21 lakh farmers in four installments as input aid to encourage agricultural production. The government said more than 1,525 crore rupees had been paid to farmers as the first payment into their accounts. 

The plan was implemented in 2020 with the goal of providing fair prices to farmers for their products, boosting Kharif crop yields and diversifying crops, but with the opposite effect, its benefits from the Kharif marketing year.
