The 2019 Union budget that was presented in the Parliament today had very little for Indian farmer. While the farmer’s efforts were appreciated for self-reliance in pulses, the seed industry had expected that the budget could have provided a road map for their goal of $5 trillion economy.
Director General of Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII), Mr. Ram Kaundinya told that the seed industry had hoped for more from the budget 2019 on the inclusion of new technologies to deal with country’s agricultural distress.

Executive Director, Federation of seed industry of India (FSII), Dr. Shivendra Bajaj said that the industry was looking forward to a budget that would have promoted innovation as well as technology. Bajaj appreciated the acknowledgement of the hard work put in by Indian farmers to make them self-reliant in pulses but added that growers should be given the option of using innovative seed solution for enhancing the productivity.

The industry is optimistic that efforts towards self-reliance in oilseeds will open the way for indigenously developed innovations for enhancing yields.
