The UAE Climate Tech forum has officially begun at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, attracting over 1,000 policymakers, CEOs, experts, specialists, technology sector leaders and investors from around the globe.

The two-day event, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in partnership with ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), takes place during the Year of Sustainability in the UAE, with the aim of accelerating efforts to reduce emissions by at least 43 percent by 2030, in line with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report.

As the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) approaches, the UAE Climate Tech forum will showcase an array of technologies, including carbon capture, AI, robotics, digitalization, hydrogen, alternative fuels and new and low-carbon energy solutions for oil and gas and hard-to-abate sectors, from more than 60 companies. Many of these companies will be making their first foray into the UAE, providing an exciting opportunity for technology, innovation, and investment.

The forum will also highlight the UAE’s efforts in spearheading technology adoption and development to accelerate decarbonization and create green industries of the future. The event will cover various climate-critical sectors, such as renewables, hydrogen, climate-smart agriculture, and STEM education.

The UAE has already demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through a range of initiatives and investments. The country has set ambitious targets to increase its renewable energy capacity to 50% by 2050 and to reduce its carbon footprint by 70% by the same year.

The country is also investing in hydrogen as a key fuel of the future, with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) investing over USD 1 billion in hydrogen projects and Masdar leading the world's largest green hydrogen project in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE Climate Tech forum is an essential step towards achieving these targets and supporting global efforts to combat climate change. It provides a platform for businesses, policymakers, and experts to exchange ideas and collaborate on solutions to tackle the challenges posed by climate change.

By promoting the development and adoption of innovative technologies, the UAE is paving its way for a more sustainable future and establishing itself as a leader in the fight against climate change.
