Namami Gange Programme, an Integrated Conservation Mission, approved as “Flagship Programme” by the Union Government in June 2014, with budget outlay of Rs. 20,000 Crore to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation and rejuvenation of National River Gange.
Aim of Yogi Government
Yogi government is using new methods to increase the income of farmers in the state, and now also they are aiming to increase the income of the farmers in such a way that they can reduce the loss in traditional farming. The intention of the government is to make the state a hub of organic farming. This will bring organic crops in 68 hectares of land in 63 districts in first phase.
Districts Included in Namami Gange Project
Out of all the districts included in this project, 27 districts are under Namami Gange Project and, 36 districts do traditional farming. For better monitoring, government’s approach is of cluster farming. Each cluster will be of 50 acres. The government will also give a grant of 10 lakh rupees per cluster in 3 years to encourage the farmers. In this, first and third years Rs. 3,30,000 and 3,30,000 will be given and, Rs. 3,40,000 in the intervening year. Districts included in this scheme are Jhansi, Jalaun, Lalitpur, Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrakoot, Marjapur, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit, Gonda, Agra, Mathura, Varanasi, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Deoria, Farukhabad, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Bahraich, Barabanki, Shravasti, Faizabad, Kanpur, Dehat, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Kanpur, Firozabad, Badanyu, Amroha, Bijnor, Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Balrampur and, Siddharthanagar.
What is the Exact Plan?
38 percent of the amount will be spent on the formation of cluster, increasing the capacity of farmers, branding, packaging, etc. Farmers will be trained for product cleaning, grading, packaging, green manure management, vermicompost preparation, nursery management, management of pests and diseases, and other organic farming practices. The government is also planning to open organic markets at all divisional headquarters.
Reason of Government’s Decision
The main reason is that, the demand of organic food has increased due to increased health awareness, and people are ready to pay good prices for that, the only condition is good quality.

The Indo-Gangetic belt is one of the most fertile lands in the world. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also mentions this often. He says that the only land of Indo-Gangetic Belt can become a repository of food grains all over the world. The condition is that the help of the latest farming method must be taken in this.
