Livestock farming is one of the main occupations in Rural India and in order to promote it, the government is implementing a number of schemes to help farmers and livestock farmers increase their income.
The Central Government has launched a scheme to offer a loan of Rs.15000 crore under the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, with the farmer and animal husbandry receiving up to 90% of the loan amount.
Objectives of Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund Scheme are as follows:
• To aid in the expansion of milk and meat processing capacity and product diversity, allowing unorganized rural milk and meat producers, greater access to the organized milk and meat markets.
• To provide the producer with increased price realization
• To make high-quality milk and meat products available to the general public.
• To meet the protein-enriched quality food requirements of the country's expanding population and to avoid malnutrition in one of the world's most malnourished children populations.
• Encourage entrepreneurship and employment generation.
• To boost exports and enhance the milk and meat sector's export contribution.
• To make the high-quality concentrated animal feed available to cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry in order to give a balanced ration at a reasonable price.

Applying Procedure
To apply for a loan under AHIDF, you need to keep the following things in mind-
1. For this, first of all, registration has to be done by visiting the Udyamimitra portal: https://udyamimitra.in/
2. After this the page will open in front of you to start the application process where you have to apply for the loan.
3. Following that, the Animal Husbandry Department will review your application.
4. The bank/lender will then sanction the loan after receiving approval from the department.
