The Andhra Pradesh Government has recently tied up with Gujarat-based Amul company to secure milk from the state's dairy farmers. The tie up will additionally empower lady dairy farmers and will also help expand dairy cultivation in the state,
Procurement of milk under the Andhra Pradesh - Amul project will begin from 20 November 2020 in the districts of Prakasam, Chittoor, and Kadapa, said Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development S Appalaraju.
AP Govt. has signed MoU with Amul so as to encourage and energize dairy cooperative societies, particularly those run by ladies, and further build up the dairy division in the State. The signed MoU targets boosting determination among dairy farmers and enabling them practically and socially," Appalaraju added.
Almost 5.6 lakh woman farmers who availed financial aid under the YSR Cheyutha program have approached for setting up small scale dairies in the towns and the administration has provided milch cows and buffaloes to those ladies. It is estimated that an additional 22 lakh litres of milk will be produced though these small scale dairies. The same will be procured by Amul and the farmers will receive payments for the same.
The minister said that around 550 villages will be covered under the three districts, In Prakasam region alone, around 56,000 liters of milk will be secured. Every one of these farmers will get their checks from Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on November 25. He also said that the tie-up will result in an overall development of the dairy division by giving assistance to the dairy farmers i.e. assured quality feed, veterinary administrations and marketing possibilities.
"Despite the fact that Andhra rests in the fourth position in the nation in milk creation with an every day creation of around four crore liters, the production from the coordinated area through dairy co-operative societies and privately held dairies is just 26 % of the absolute production. The State government is trying to bring the units from the unorganized sector into the coordinated sector by empowering dairy co-operative societies and lady farmers," he said.
The State will spend Rs 1,362 crores for improving the infrastructure by building up Bulk Milk Cooling Units and Milk Collection Centers in Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs). The venture will be executed in a staged way and in the initial stage around 7,121 Milk Collection Centers and 2,774 BMCUs will be set up.
A sum of 3639 and 3486 BMCUs will begin to function in the second and third stages alongside extra centers for milk collection. The State government likewise proposes to form RBKs into Milk-Potential RBK.
