On Monday, the KVK, Anjaw commenced a six-day 'Skill training for rural youth on duck farming,' which was sponsored by the National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technical Management.
"Farmers can breed ducks for either meat or eggs," stated District AH & Veterinary Officer Dr G Singh during the opening ceremony. In the current Anjaw condition, duck rearing is more profitable than chicken rearing since both have better disease resistance and can survive in harsh and wet conditions."
DIET Principal SK Dey from Khupa encouraged participants to "come forward to gain the information regarding least explored duck farming in Anjaw district," while KVK animal science specialist Dr. Santosh Kumar gave a presentation on the training program.
Ducks are frequently less expensive to rear and are more resilient in both hot and cold weather, according to Veterinary Officer Dr. Gedam Ete, in addition to producing larger and more eggs yearly. "They lay eggs almost close to year round " he noted, "and hence may be exploited as a viable revenue generation venture by the district's rural unemployed youngsters."
At the closing of the program, garden pea seeds were provided, and agronomy scientist Naveen Khoisam demonstrated how to cultivate pea.
