National Bank for Agriculture Development (NABARD) Regional Office, Ludhiana had organized a workshop on DEDS i.e. Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, submission of claims & Government sponsored schemes together with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University at GADVASU Campus on 6 November 2019. The workshop was attended by 30 officers from Dairy Development, Animal Husbandry Department, Bankers and Progressive farmers.
Dr. H.K. Verma, Director of Extension Education, GADVASU, delivered a lecture on Extension services offered by the university for promoting dairy and other inputs provided by university to the farmers.
Parveen Bhatia, DDM of NABARD said that DEDS (Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme) is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented through NABARD with an objective to promote setting up of modern dairy farms for production of clean milk, encourage heifer calf rearing, bring structural changes in the unorganized sector and generate self-employment. He explained the objectives of the scheme and also informed that a new subsidy claims to be filed in NABARD Ensure portal, formation of FPOS and other initiatives taken by NABARD Punjab Regional office in Ludhiana for upliftment of rural poor.
Further, it is important to mention that NABARD has sanctioned a project for subscribing monthly magazine ' Vigiyanik Pashu Palan' of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University to 800 Farmers clubs, operational in Punjab for adopting suggestions of University to manage animals in a scientific way for productivity enhancement.
Dilbagh Singh, Deputy Director Dairy explained DEDS, initiatives and training programme run by Dairy Department. Anil Kumar LDM, Punjab & Sind Bank explained about credit operations, DEDS scheme, and role of banks.
