India’s Agri Products Export Increased By 16% in 2022-23

Increased Agricultural Exports creates jobs and income for workers in the production, processing, transportation, and export industries, as well as increases farmer income.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India's agricultural and processed food product exports increased by 16% year on year in the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal year 2022-23, reaching 74% of its annual export target.

 

The agricultural and processed food products basket has an export target of USD 23.56 billion for 2022-23. According to preliminary data, total agricultural and processed food exports increased to USD 17.43 billion from USD 15.07 billion in the previous fiscal year.

Data showed that processed fruits and vegetables increased by 32.60% (April-November 2022), while fresh fruits increased by 4% in comparison to the same months the previous year.

 

In addition, processed food products such as cereals and miscellaneous processed items increased by 28.29% over the first eight months of the previous year.

India's exports of pulses, basmati rice, poultry, dairy products, and wheat have increased by 90.49, 39.26, 88.45, 33.77, and 29.29 percent, respectively. Basmati rice exports increased to 24.97 lakh tonnes during the April-October period of the 2022-23 fiscal year, up from 21.59 lakh tonnes the previous year.

 

"We have been working with all stakeholders, including farmers, exporters, and processors, to ensure that quality agricultural and processed food products are exported from the country," M Angamuthu, Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), said of the overall export achievements.
