The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), with the support of the Government of India, is organising the 1st INDIA AUSTRALIA ECTA TRADE EXPO in Sydney, Australia, from March 22-23, 2023.
The Expo's sole purpose is to bring together Indian and Australian industry to work collaboratively for extensive market access and increased trade under the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA). The India-Australia FTA is a bold agreement with significant tariff reduction commitments. Australia will grant duty-free market access to 96.4 percent of Indian exports (98 per cent of tariff lines).
On April 2, 2022, India and Australia signed an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) that aims to nearly double bilateral trade to $45-50 billion in the next five years, up from $27 billion now. In the presence of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison, Hon'ble Minister of Commerce Shri Piyush Goyal and Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment Dan Tehan signed the India-Australia ECTA in a virtual ceremony.
Textiles (Yarns, Fabric, Apparels, Knits), leather, furniture, Footwear, Handlooms, Gems & Jewellery, Home furnishing, Technical Textiles, Pharmaceuticals and Medical devices, IT & Services, Food & Agriculture, Construction Building materials, Mining & Minerals, and Sports Goods are among the industries that will benefit from duty-free market access.
