The Department of Pharmaceuticals intends to hold a large-scale first-time National Level Expo on Medical Devices for three days (16-18 August 2023) at the Helipad Exhibition Centre in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
The India MedTech Expo, which was rescheduled to be held in January 2023, received a tremendous response from the MedTech Industry, and the plan to host the same in August 2023 in conjunction with the G-20 Health Ministers meeting will provide a much-needed boost to this Sunrise Sector, which the Department of Pharmaceuticals is supporting through various initiatives such as the PLI scheme, Medical Devices Park Scheme, and so on.
The Medical Device industry is the largest in the healthcare business, and numerous categories of devices ranging from consumables to implantable medical devices are now made in India. With the help of the PLI scheme, high-end medical gadgets such as CT scans, MRIs, and LINACs are being built in the country.
The Expo will feature 150+ start-ups, 275 Indian and International Medical Device firms and MSME units, and 50 research institutions. Around 200 foreign buyers will be hosted for business-to-business meetings.
