Among all the lifestyle-related diseases, hypertension, depression and anxiety have become very common these days due to stressful lifestyles and busy routine. Hypertension shows in the form of high blood pressure, where blood applies more force on the walls of the blood vessels.

This dysfunctioning of blood vessels indicates the danger of suffering from heart ailments like heart attack or heart stroke. Though, hypertension can be taken care by making lifestyle changes and changing one's diet. Still, it is difficult to get rid of this problem quickly and permanently.

Interestingly, a recent scientific breakthrough has found a probable solution for combating hypertension. The city-headquartered Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has introduced that seaweeds can be used to make a nutraceutical product, Cadalmin Antihypertensive extract (Cadalmin AHe). This product can be administered orally to manage hypertension. The drug was released by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Kajal Chakraborty, Senior Scientist at the CMFRI mentioned, "The extract contains 100 per cent natural marine bioactive ingredients from selected seaweeds by a patented technology. Also, it will be made available in 400 mg capsules. It does not have any side effects as established by detailed pre-clinical trials."

We are familiar that Seaweed is a kind of algae that is mostly found in the Indian coastal waters. It is also called as sea vegetable and is commonly eaten in Asian countries in foods such as sushi, soup and salad. It is said to contain many remarkable medicinal and health-giving properties providing various health benefits by making our body strong.
