The idea of developing your own food is getting well known in the urban living society as it gives a natural harvest. Are you living in a metropolitan city and want to start cultivating inside your condo. Don't worry! You can start planting these vegetables and enjoy the organic life.

Here is a list of the top 10 edible plants to grow indoors 

Carrot:

Carrots, also known as Gajar, are used in pickles, mixed vegetable dishes, and puddings. Carrots can be grown successfully indoors with 6 to 8 hours of daylight. Carrots are suitable for indoor cultivation because they take up less space, but they do require deep, deep pots with good drainage holes to thrive.

Tomatoes:

Indian vegetable dishes are incomplete without the addition of tangy tamakar. This light-loving veggie can be developed inside by picking the right variety. Tomatoes do well in a lot of daylight. For indoor cultivation, go for cherry tomatoes as they require less care and maintenance.

Potatoes:

Potatoes are the staple of Indian family units that pair well with each and every vegetable. They take less space and reap rapidly within a short period of time. A minimum of 12 to 14 inches of depth for a pot is necessary for cultivation along with 7 to 8 hours of daylight.

Chilli:

Chilli or Mirchi is utilized to confer hotness into dishes and developing them inside your home comes with the reward of collecting them whenever required. The location of the pot should be somewhere where it can get 6 to 7 hours of daylight every day.

Beans:

The green beans are a fundamental piece of the flavorful mixed veg dishes of our country mostly because of its subtle taste. Development is fast and like all the veggies, the plant grows brilliantly in daylight and moist or damp soil.

Mustard (Sarso) greens:

One of the best dishes of North India is sarso ka saag and complementing the same is makki ki roti. The leaves of mustard greens have a wrinkly texture to them and taste a bit hot. The plant can be grown indoors however have a check on water and try not to overwater it.

Coriander

Coriander or Dhaniya as we call it is used mostly for garnishing Indian dishes. Before planting, pound the seeds to part them into two. Keep the plant where it can get 4 to 5 hours of full sunlight. The leaves can be used for eating purposes within a month and a half.

Garlic Greens:

Garlic greens taste and smell like garlic and are used as supplements in a mixed salad. Plant garlic that has sprouted in the pot with fertilized soil and gives 5 to 6 hours of daylight to the plant for proper growth.

Radish:

Mooli is a root vegetable and is an extravagant addition to mixed salads, all thanks to its flavor and rough texture. The radish needs to be planted in a deep pot or container which has good drainage and natural soil in it.

Herbs like Parsley, Sage, Thyme etc:

Popular for their restorative properties, spices and herbs add a particular flavor to dishes. Extending from chives, mint, oregano to thyme, you can cultivate any of them inside your home. Simply make a point to water them normally and give 6 to 8 hours of daylight.
