Bayer Appoints Ingo Elfering as CIO & Head of Digital Transformation of Crop Science

Bayer has appointed Ingo Elfering as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) & Head of Digital Transformation of Crop Science - a division of Bayer, with effective from 1st October 2019.

Bayer has appointed Ingo Elfering as the new Chief Information Officer (CIO) & Head of Digital Transformation of Crop Science - a division of Bayer, with effective from 1st October 2019.

Elfering, who succeeds Jim Swanson will report to Daniel Hartert (CIO of Bayer Group) and join the firm’s global IT Leadership Team & Crop Science Executive Leadership Team. He will be based in Saint Louis, Missouri, US and head the digital transformation in Crop Science and continue to lead Business Services in the US.

Liam Condon, member of Board of Management of Bayer AG & President of Crop Science Division said, “Ingo Elfering brings strong corporate as well as entrepreneurial experience as a leader who has successfully driven large-scale strategic & innovative change programs” adding that “His earlier success in driving change in complex global environments would benefit all of us at Bayer as digital transformation is a core enabler of our business strategy & growth.”

Elfering on this new appointment said, “I am really eager about the digital transformation of agriculture & look forward to help drive this forward with Bayer as the leading firm in this space”. He told “I am also looking forward to work with teams all over the world to develop as well as implement solutions to create new value for customers & our business.”

Before joining Bayer last year, Elfering served as the CIO & Innovation Officer at Indivior in Richmond, Virginia. He also gained huge leadership experience with GlaxoSmithKline, where he was responsible for core business services, business transformation, disruptive innovation and different global roles in IT. And prior to that, he successfully established, ran & sold a start-up company in Germany.
