FAI elects K S Raju as chairman & Manoj Mishra as co-chairman

Mr. K.S. Raju has been elected as the Chairman and Mr. Manoj Mishra as Co-chairman the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI). This will be second term for Mr. K.S. Raju as Chairman, FAI. He was Chairman of FAI during 2008-2010. The decision was taken in the Board Meeting of FAI held on 25th September, 2017 in New Delhi. Mr. K.S. Raju is the Chairman of the Nagarjuna Group, Hyderabad.

Mr. K.S. Raju has been elected as the Chairman and Mr. Manoj Mishra as Co-chairman the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI). This will be second term for Mr. K.S. Raju as Chairman, FAI. He was Chairman of FAI during 2008-2010. The decision was taken in the Board Meeting of FAI held on 25th September, 2017 in New Delhi. Mr. K.S. Raju is the Chairman of the Nagarjuna Group, Hyderabad. Mr. Raju completed his mechanical Engineering from the University of Mysore in 1973 and embarked on the project which his father and he had initiated together – Nagarjuna Steels Limited. This project gave further impetus to development of industry in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. K.S. Raju’s ability to initiate new projects proved to be a vital tool for success. He provided successful business leadership for the start up, before being called on to take the Group’s most critical role in its history – that of the leadership for the Group’s fertilizer project Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited at Kakinada during its most challenging phase. He encouraged the Group’s foray into core sectors and structuring of businesses to meet the customer’s needs.

 Apart from promoting business, Mr. K.S. Raju has always been proactive in supporting community development activities in areas of environment, health, education and income generation to community asset creation. Mr. Raju has served on the Boards of Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Court of Governors-University of Hyderabad as the Chairman of National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chennai. He is one of the Founder Trustees of Naandi Foundation, Hyderabad. The Nagarjuna Group under the stewardship and guidance of Mr. K.S. Raju is in the process of emerging as an enterprise based on values and commitment to the society at large.

Mr. K.S. Raju has made several presentations and has attended many national and international workshops, seminars and conferences.

Mr. K.S. Raju, while assuming the position of Chairman, FAI, thanked the Board members for the confidence reposed in him. He said there is a dire necessity to address issues of the Indian Fertiliser sector both for its own health and growth and to contribute meaningfully to the Indian farmers and Indian agriculture with a long term perspective. He emphasized that it was necessary for all the members of the Association and the Government of India to work together to achieve the common purpose.

MANOJ MISHRA is the Chairman and Managing Director of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), Noida. He is a member of Institute of Cost Accountants of India and has professional experience of more than 30 years in various Public Sector Undertakings and Co-operative sector.

Prior to his appointment as Chairman and Managing Director, NFL in June 2015, Mr. Mishra held the position of Director (Finance) in State Trading Corporation (STC). Before joining STC in 2010, Mr. Mishra held various positions in Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) for 23 years.

Mr. Manoj Mishra also had been the Chairman, Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL), from June 2015 to February 2017. RFCL is a joint venture of National Fertilizers Limited with Engineers India Limited and Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCIL) for revival of closed urea plant at Ramagundam in Telangana with a new urea plant of 1.27 million tonnes per annum capacity.

Mr. Manoj Mishra held additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF), from June 2016 to March 2017. He was the ex-officio Chairman of Talcher Fertilizers Limited, a joint venture of RCF, GAIL, Coal India Limited and Fertilizer Corporation of India for setting up a coal based fertilizer plant at Talchar in Odisha. He was instrumental in providing pace to the project by achieving various milestones including finalization of technology for coal gasification process.

Mr. Manoj Mishra successfully transformed NFL from a single product company to an organization with stakes in various types of fertilizers, seeds, agro-chemicals and industrial products. The hallmark of Mr. Mishra’s success is his sustained discipline, hard work and commitment to the profession and company as a whole.

Mr. Mishra has visited abroad on a number of key assignments related to fertiliser sector as well as for exploring trade opportunities.
