PATS & Biobest Make Data-driven Crop Protection Accessible

"Biobest is a firm believer in data-driven cultivation and the numerous advantages it will provide to growers. This new collaboration with PATS will prove to be a winning combination. With this information, our advisors can provide even more tailored advice, strengthening the IPM programme while reducing the use of corrective agents.

Biobest's extensive portfolio of IPM solutions now includes a scouting tool, thanks to a strong alliance with technology company PATS. PATS-C, a system that detects real-time flying pests such as moths in the greenhouse, will be available to growers beginning May 16. This information allows for the earlier and more precise introduction of biological agents.

"To measure is to know," says Sam Gui, Biobest's Market Development Manager High Tech IPM. "The PATS plug-and-play cameras provide information on when, where, and how many moths are active in the greenhouse." It is completely automated, requires no staff, and can frequently provide data before the pests are visually detected, saving growers time in their scouting programme."

“Growers can reduce their use of products, making their crop protection programme more efficient, while consumers get products with the least amount of residue possible."

Scouting with Intelligence

"By incorporating PATS cameras into Biobest's product line, this smart scouting tool will quickly become available to growers all over the world," says Bram Tijmons, CEO and co-founder of PATS.

He emphasizes the fact that this is a smart system. "PATS-C continuously monitors moth presence and population growth. This enables the grower to better monitor and time the introduction of biological agents.”

“The system provides scouting data to the grower in the form of a dashboard at his fingertips, allowing him to consult the situation in his greenhouse at any time and from any location. With this technology, we can also learn more about pest behaviour, such as when they are active. This information can then be used to improve timing on the day of application."
