Among other top industry leaders of India to donate in the hour of COVID-19 crisis, UPL Limited has announced to mark its presence. To aid the government in combating against COVID-19, the leading crop protection products manufacturer has decided to contribute ₹75 crores to the PM-CARES fund.
Several Personal Purchase Equipment (PPE) units will be provided by the company to those who are in the frontline team in the healthcare and sanitization. With this, the company aims at supplementing the efforts of central and state governments and has provided 200 new-age mechanical spraying machines (falcons) with 225 staff members to the government for sanitization purposes.
Not only this, but the teams have come forward to assist local administration with disinfectant spraying at public and private spaces like streets, hospitals, police stations, railway stations, and municipal corporations.
Commenting about the decision to donate money for the cause, Jai Shroff, UPL’s CEO, said, “The Company finds itself duty-bound to serve the nation and assist with its resources and expertise.”
The company has also kept the premises of its educational institutions on standby. Gyan Dham School and Sandra Shroff Rofel College of Nursing, both at Vapi in Gujarat, have been associated with the company and are equipped with necessary arrangements to operate as isolation centers in the hour of need.
As per reports, the company has been successfully managed to spray an 11.5 lakh liter of a disinfectant solution in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. The company will be extending the exercise to other states as well.
According to Tushar Trivedi, Head, AFS, UPL, all the resources were quickly assembled and deputed with mechanized spraying vehicles once the company got a call from the authorities. The company helped to disinfect public spaces with Sodium Hypochloride provided by the government.
