Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja has been appointed as Tesla's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He is currently serving as the Chief Accounting Officer and will take over as the company’s CFO, in his role current role.
Taneja will be replacing Zachary Kirkhorn who has stepped down from his responsibility after serving for 13 years in Tesla, the American multi-national automobile company.

Taneja joined Tesla in 2017 after working in SolarCity for a year which was later taken over by Tesla in 2016. He served there as the Vice-President, thereafter as a Corporate Controller

Tesla registered its Indian subsidiary in Bengaluru as Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited in 2021. Taneja was then named as one of the three directors of the company along with David Jon Feinstein and Venkatrangam Dreeram.
Though Tesla never specified the reason for the change, Kirkhorn is expected to stay in his position till the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
