The Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) was launched on October 11, 2014, to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's vision of an ideal Indian village in today's context. Each Member of Parliament adopts a Gram Panchayat under SAGY, overseeing its development in both social and infrastructure aspects. The aim is to create 'Adarsh Grams' that showcase local progress and effective governance, serving as models for other Gram Panchayats. So far, 1782 Gram Panchayats have been adopted through SAGY in the past five years.

After Phase-I (2014-16) of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), nine universities conducted assessments for the Gram Panchayats (GPs) involved. Reports highlighted significant improvements attributed to effective guidance by Members of Parliament and proactive District Administration involvement. Enhancements were seen in child immunization, Public Distribution System (PDS) strengthening, social security scheme enrollment, electricity access, and piped water supply in adopted GPs. To ensure engagement, a bulk SMS service reminds stakeholders, including MPs, of their SAGY roles. An 'MP Dashboard' aids MPs in monitoring GP progress, accessible via saanjhi.gov.in/ChoosenReportNew.aspx. MPs track development, reviews, and Mission Antyodaya scores. Local feedback reaches MPs and State officials like District Collectors.

The Ministry has further conducted workshops aimed at assisting MPs' representatives in expediting the implementation of SAGY. This initiative seeks to enhance the MPs' ability to effectively contribute to the SAGY program.

The information provided is a compilation of Gram Panchayats adopted under the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in the last five years up to August 3, 2023. This data is based on the information submitted by the respective States on the SAGY portal.
