The fourth and final meeting of the G20 Framework Working Group (FWG) under the Indian G20 Presidency came to a successful close today. Co-chaired by India and the UK, the two-day meeting from September 18 to 19, 2023, was a significant gathering attended by approximately 65 delegates representing G20 member countries, invitee nations, and various international and regional organizations.

Chandni Raina, Adviser at the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and Sam Beckett, Chief Economic Adviser at HM Treasury, UK, served as co-chairs for this meeting, which marked the culmination of the FWG's work during India's G20 Presidency.

One of the highlights of this year's meeting was the successful delivery of two crucial G20 reports, both referenced in the New Delhi Leaders Declaration. The reports included the G20 Report on Macroeconomic Impacts of Food and Energy Insecurity and the G20 Report on Macroeconomic Risks Stemming from Climate Change and Transition Pathways.

These reports underlined the need for continued global discussions regarding the macroeconomic implications associated with global challenges and explored effective policy options to address them. Delegates also discussed the initial findings of the draft G20/IMF Strong Sustainable, Balanced, and Inclusive Growth Report, based on an update provided by the IMF.

To foster inclusivity and engage the broader public, the Reserve Bank of India organized a series of Jan Bhagidari events. These events were designed for the general public, students, and self-help organizations and included financial literacy programs, a G20 awareness campaign, a painting contest, a slogan-writing contest, and a quiz competition.

Delegates had the opportunity to enjoy an excursion to Nandanvan Zoological Garden, which boasts a Jungle Safari, Zoological Park, Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, and other attractions. The Khandwa Reservoir, known for its migratory bird population and picturesque landscapes, added to the charm of the visit.

The delegates were also treated to a "Ratri Bhoj Par Samvad" (Conversation over Dinner) and a cultural event, allowing them to experience the rich cultural heritage and delectable cuisine of Chhattisgarh.

Embracing the theme of the Indian Presidency, "One Earth, One Family, One Future," the group collectively agreed to enhance international cooperation in addressing macroeconomic challenges and building a more resilient and prosperous global economy for the benefit of all. The successful conclusion of this meeting reaffirmed the commitment of G20 nations to working together for a better future.
