7th Pay Commission update: As per latest media reports, the central government employees will soon get the pending DA arrears up to Rs. 2 lakhs. The Modi government can soon clear the pending DA arrears of 18 months (1.5 years) of central govt. employees. Moreover, the decision regarding the same can be taken in the next cabinet meeting.

According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council of JCM, the council had asked the government to clear the pending DA arrears long time back.

Employees to get arrears upto Rs. 2 lakhs

The Central government employees are continuously pressurizing the government to release the arrears of 18 months. The amount of arrears will be different for different grades (levels) of employees. The DA arrears of level 1 employees range from Rs. 11800 - Rs. 37554. And for Level-13 (7th CPC basic pay scale Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 215900) or Level-14 employees, the DA arrears will be Rs 1,44,200 and 2,18,200 respectively.

DA is expected to increase by 4%

The dearness allowance is expected to increase by 4% in July, which would take DA to 38%. In March 2022, the Cabinet had increased the dearness allowance by 3% under the 7th Pay Commission, thus taking the DA to 34% of the basic income. More than 50 lakh government employees & 65 lakh pensioners are getting profit from this.

What is DA & DR

Dearness allowance and dearness relief are given to government employees and pensioners. Dearness allowance is basically a component of the salary of central government employees and pensioners.

Keeping in mind the increasing inflation & price rise, the government revises the DA as well as the DR component twice a year – once in January and then in July. But DA varies from employee to employee depending on where they work - in urban, semi-urban or rural sector.
