7th Pay Commission Latest Update: DA Hiked in Seven States

Several states increased the dearness allowance and dearness relief for employees before Diwali.

The Haryana government on Tuesday announced a hike in the dearness allowance of its employees drawing their salaries according to the 7th Pay Commission structure by 4% to 38%, bringing festival joy to the thousands of state employees.

Giving more specifics, the Haryana government stated that the employees would receive the enhanced DA with their October 2022 paychecks and that the arrears for the months of July through September would be paid in November. The Haryana Government's Finance Department made this announcement.

In preparation for Diwali, several states increased the dearness allowance and dearness relief for public employees. Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Odisha are among the states that have raised the DA and DR.

DA Hike in Assam:

The Assam government raised the home guards' daily duty pay from Rs 300 to Rs 767 on Wednesday, bringing holiday happiness to the state's home guards. The state administration announced this in a notification, stating that the increase will take effect right away. A home guard would now make Rs 23,010 per month with the increase, according to the state government.

DA Hike in Uttar Pradesh:

The dearness allowance and dearness relief of the Uttar Pradesh government employees and pensioners were raised on Monday from 34% to 38% with effect from 1 July 2022.

"UP CM Yogi Adityanath has decided to increase the rate of dearness allowance and dearness relief from the present 34% to 38% with effect from 01.07.2022, keeping in mind the wider interest of the state employees and pensioners/family pensioners," reads a tweet from the office of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

DA Hike in Chhattisgarh:

On October 14, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced a 5% increase in dearness allowance (DA), increasing the total to 33%. Nearly 3.80 lakh state government employees would benefit from the state government's raise.

The Delhi government also increased DA for its employees by 4% earlier this month.

DA Hike in Jharkhand:

The proposal to hike the dearness allowance (DA) for state government employees and the dearness relief (DR) for its pensioners by 4% with effect from July 1 of this year was accepted by the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government on October 10.

DA Hike for Central Government Employees:

The Central government is likely to hike DA of government employees by 4% to 38% soon. The DA and DR hike was supposed to take effect on July 1st, 2022 but things got delayed. 

Also, the Center set aside Rs 12, 852 crores for the expenditure related to the DA hike for more than 50 lakh public employees and almost 62 lakh pensioners.
