The national executive decided at its meeting in Delhi on October 8 and 9 that the financial stability of farmers is vital and that all required efforts must be taken, according to BKS All-India Secretary K Sai Reddy.
"On December 19, we will host a big protest rally in Delhi and give the title "Kisan Garjana Rally" to demand the central government to remove the GST on agricultural inputs. Additionally, we'll argue for our demand that Kisan Samman Rashi should also be increased keeping inflation in mind," Reddy said at a press conference.
Additionally, he said that a number of events would be held in October and November to inform people about the problems and the rally.
Farmers from all over the nation will attend the rally on December 19 to bring attention to their condition, according to BKS general secretary Mohini Mohan Mishra.
He further elaborated on the demands of BKS and said, "GST has been paid by farmers for a variety of agricultural equipment. Despite being producers, they are not given credit for their contributions. Therefore, the government should either ensure farmers receive a profit for their product or cut the input share of the GST to zero. "Mishra referred to the minimum support price (MSP) as a "flawed" idea, saying that farmers are unable to get a profitable price for their crops.
The government has recently appointed a committee to investigate farmers' MSP-related issues.
In addition, he demanded that the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi under which farmers are given Rs. 6,000 annually, should be increased each year by linking it to inflation. Fertilizer subsidies, he added, "should be directly transferred into the accounts of farmers."
Fertilizer subsidies are currently used for non-agricultural purposes and said that due to government negligence and declining farm profits, farmers are looking for other livelihoods.
Therefore, it is necessary to take such steps to prevent farmers from leaving the industry. According to him, the government talks about farmers doubling their income, so it should take these steps to ensure farmers' welfare.
