Budget 2022: 3rd Phase of PM Jan Dhan Yojana to Start Soon, Check What Will Change?

The third phase of Jan Dhan Yojana may start after budget 2022. Under this, all the Jan Dhan account holders will be connected with the facility of digital banking and door step banking.

PMJDY: Preparation for Budget 2022 is in full swing. This year's budget is going to be very important for the government, the public, and the economy. According to the report of CNBC Awaaz, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman can make a big announcement for the banking sector on February 1.

The government can start the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in this budget. Under this, all the Jan Dhan account holders will be connected with the facility of digital banking and door step banking. After the introduction of digital banking service, Jan Dhan account holders will also be eligible taking advantage of for mobile banking services. 

There is also a report that schemes like Atal Pension YojanaSukanya Samriddhi Yojana can be linked with Jan Dhan account. Meaning, deposits can also be made in these schemes from Jan Dhan account. Due to this, the scope of these schemes will be increased further. 

More than 44 crore accounts have been opened so far & 1 lakh 54 thousand 916 crore rupees have been  deposited in these bank accounts. 

Benefits of PMJDY: 

This scheme was started in 2014. Jan Dhan Yojana was started so that all the people of the country can be connected with the banking system. There is no need to maintain a minimum balance in PMJDY account. Rupay debit cards are also issued to the account holder. Apart from this, accidental insurance of 2 lakhs is available. Overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 is available. 

Documents for opening Jan Dhan account 

The process of KYC for opening Jan Dhan account has been kept very simple. You can open a Jan Dhan account in SBI or any other bank after submitting any one of the following documents- 

  • Passport

  • Driving license

  • Pan Card

  • Aadhar Card

  • Voters ID Card

  • Job card issued by NREGA with state government stamp on it

  • ID card issued by central or state government, statutory or regulatory authority, government company, commercial bank, government financial institution

  • Letter with attested photograph signed by gazettedofficer 

  • Even if none of these documents are there, a small account can be opened. A letter with self attested photograph bearing self signature or thumb impression.
