The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an important update for all schools. Schools now have time until 17 April 2025 to make corrections in student details. The correction window began on 9 April 2025.
CBSE is allowing schools to rectify errors in student records to ensure accurate results and mark sheets. This correction process is applicable only for regular students, and a fee of Rs 1,000 per student will be charged. The fee must be submitted to the respective CBSE regional office.
What Can Be Corrected?
Schools are allowed to make the following changes:
-
Switching the names of parents (like father's and mother's name).
-
Improving the student’s photo.
-
Correcting the date of birth (as per the rules and with proper documents).
-
Updating if the student is an only child.
-
Fixing the student’s gender.
-
Small changes in the spelling of the mother’s or father’s name.
-
However, changing the student’s category from General to OBC or vice versa is not allowed.
Why Is This Important?
CBSE said that many schools had earlier sent wrong student information to the board, even after being reminded many times. Later, these schools asked CBSE to correct the mistakes. So now, CBSE is giving one last chance to fix everything.
CBSE also reminded schools to double-check the spelling of the student’s name, as well as the names of their parents. All names must match the records kept by the school.
The board clearly said that no corrections will be accepted after 17 April 2025. The details submitted by then will be considered final and will be used to prepare the students' final mark sheets.
Schools must also make sure the date of birth in the form is correct and matches the records in the Admission and Withdrawal Register.
