Chirag Paswan Assumes Charge as Union Minister for Food Processing Industries

Chirag Paswan, the new Union Minister for Food Processing Industries, assumed office at Panchsheel Bhawan, New Delhi, committing to advance the sector and increase farmers' incomes.

Chirag Paswan officially assumed his role as the Union Minister for Food Processing Industries today on June 10, 2024,  at Panchsheel Bhawan, New Delhi. The 41-year-old Member of Parliament from Hajipur, Bihar, was welcomed by Anita Praveen, Secretary of the Ministry, along with senior officials.

Upon taking charge, Paswan expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for entrusting him with this significant responsibility. He emphasized his commitment to advancing the objectives of the Ministry, focusing on enhancing the food processing sector and increasing farmers' incomes.

In his inaugural address, Paswan highlighted the Prime Minister's vision for the department, aiming to elevate it to new heights. He stressed the importance of working diligently to meet the goals set by the government, particularly the 100-day action plan. This plan outlines key initiatives and targets to be achieved within the first 100 days of the current government tenure.

After taking charge, he held a review meeting with senior officials to discuss ongoing schemes and future strategies for the Ministry. He directed the officials to ensure the effective implementation of these schemes, aligning with the government's broader objectives.

The Food Processing Ministry plays a crucial role in enhancing the value addition to agricultural produce, thereby increasing farmers' income and contributing to the overall economic growth of the country.
