Weather Update: The National Capital has finally woken up with a clear morning after two days of very dense fog. However, only shallow fog with a visibility of 800 meters was reported in Palam during early morning hours, says Skymet weather report. As per reports, the change in wind direction to north/north-westerlies attributed to the sudden improvement in the Delhi climate. Mainly dry weather likely to prevail over the country till 26th January except for Northeastern States, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir where isolated to scattered precipitation likely during the forecast period, said Indian Meteorological Department. On the other hand, cold wave conditions likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh during the next 3 days and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on 23rd January.
The air quality of Delhi has improved to AQI of 203 which falls under the ‘Moderate’ category in the morning hours of Thursday. As per Skymet reports, the moderate winds are expected to pick up more pace in the next 24 hours owing to which fog is not likely to form in Delhi and adjoining region for at least the next two days.
Moderate winds from north direction have taken over the region since yesterday night, which has not allowed the layer of fog to settle down today morning. Being dry in nature, these winds have also been instrumental in reducing the humidity, says Skymet reports. These winds are also likely to drop day temperatures by 1-2 degrees Celsius, leading to cold day conditions in one or two pockets. And in spite of bright sunshine and clear sky, Delhiites would experience winter chill during the daytime as well.
As per yesterday’s report, maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1 degree Celsius to 5.0 degrees Celsius) at many places over Coastal Karnataka., Kerala, Mahe, Konkan, and Goa.
On the other hand, the minimum temperature was markedly above normal (5.1 degrees and more) at isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, and Lakshadweep.
