We all are well aware that banks provide the facility of insurance on the use of debit or credit card. But not all know they one can take double benefit of this service with many schemes. Going by the rules of insurance, debit and credit card companies give free accident insurance to their users. To avail this, it is also necessary to use these cards online.

How to get insurance benefit on your card?

Customers must note that the benefit of insurance on credit or debit cards can be availed on only one card. For the users who have cards from more than one bank, then insurance of only one card can be availed from them i.e. different insurance claims cannot be made for different cards. The insurance coverage on the credit or debit card can range from Rs 30,000 - Rs 10 lakh. These benefits can be availed by the rural people also who use their cards.

How Jan Dhan Account holders can get double insurance benefits?

Jan Dhan Account holders must know that government has given insurance facility on ATM card. The Jan Dhan account women beneficiaries who use RuPay debit card are given insurance coverage of Rs 30,000. Besides, the government also gives insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh separately to the Jan Dhan account holders. Thus, to sum it up, Jan Dhan account holders get a total insurance coverage of Rs 2.30 lakh.

But your card must be active to take advantage of this insurance coverage. For example, if there is an accident with the card users & their nominee claims the bank for the amount of insurance coverage, then the bank first checks whether there has been any transaction with the card in the last 60 days.

However, if the user’s cards are not active for the given time of 60 days, then the insurance claim gets cancelled. Also the use of the card in an ATM machine will not be valid. Claims will be paid only on the basis of shopping or payment from the card only. So, all the customers who take a debit or credit card from the bank must keep using it regularly to avail the double benefits.
