Pulses are a vital source of protein, particularly for vegetarians or for people who do not get enough protein through meat, fish or dairy. They are a healthy choice for meat-eaters and help them cut off excess fat from diets.
In order to tell people the benefits and importance of pulses, every year on February 10, the entire world celebrates Pulses day.
This year World Pulses Day will be observed for the fourth time on Thursday (10 Feb). This day is intended to raise awareness about the importance of pulses in world health.
In light of the above discussion & to support FAO's theme of this year's World Pulses Day, Krishi Jagran is hosting a live session on "Pulses to Empower Youth in Achieving Sustainable Seed Production, Distribution, and Agri-Food System" on February 10th, 2022 | 2:00 PM Onwards. Many prominent industry people will take part and share their perspectives, and one of them is Dr. Dinesh Chauhan Vice President - New initiative DeHaat, located in Gurgaon, Haryana.
Dr. Chauhan has over two decades of worldwide experience working and managing significant projects in Africa and India. He has broad expertise working in both the Agri Input and Output side of the value chain for both fresh and soft commodities, as well as international consultancy and non-profit organizations.
Post MBA, he began his career as a Management Trainee with Mahindra and rose through the ranks to become the CEO of International Agriculture Consulting Group. Until recently he was Director and COO with Indian society of Agribusiness professionals ISAP. He was also Reliance Retail's Category Head of FnV in Delhi-NCR and Haryana. As National Head of Business Development, he was in charge of Origo Commodities' collateral management business.
Dr. Chauhan holds a Ph.D. in Management from Pantnagar University with MBA in Agribusiness Management and an MSc in Food Technology. He also serves on the advisory boards of Africa Agribusiness Alliance, Global Bio Ag Linkages and AgTech Insight – US, Ghana India Trade Advisory Council- Ghana, Global AgTech Council, and is a working group member of the National level Committee of Agri StartUps in India.
He has formed alliances and collaborated with cross-cultural teams from India, United States, Australia, Israel, Africa, China, Norway, Middle East and South Asia.
