A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region on Tuesday (March 21) night, causing strong tremors in regions of north India, including Delhi-NCR. Residents fled houses in fear as the earthquake hit northern India about 10.20 p.m. 

The earthquakes were detected in regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh. The earthquake's magnitude is 6.6, and its epicentre is near Fayzabad in Afghanistan, according to the National Center for Seismology. The shocks were recorded at a depth of 156 kilometres.

Together with Afghanistan, the earthquake hit regions of Pakistan, with significant tremors reported in Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar.
