Farmers are still firm on their demand to repeal the three agricultural laws. Despite rising cases of Covid-19 in Delhi-NCR, farmers are still protesting at Singhu border. In addition, as the weather is changing, summers and striking heat has reached the North, now farmers’ tractor-trailers have been replaced with bamboo huts and green nets.

Over 110 huts have been set up with the facilities including refrigerators, air coolers, and fans to get relief from the scorching heat.

The farmers are spending around Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 2 lakh  on such huts and migrant laborers are working overtime to meet the growing demand.

Temperature is rising at Singhu border. Farmer leaders say that it is due to the ongoing harvest season.

Ravinder Singh Phagwara of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar said that they had been putting up at the Delhi border since 26 November 2020, and it was comparatively easy during the winter months. He said, “Although staying in the open in broiling heat is difficult, we will not give up.”

He also mentioned that bamboo huts covered with tarpaulin and mosquito nets have been set up. And a well-equipped hut costs near to 1.5 lakh rupees, and 40-45 people at one time can live there.

Farmers are saying that they won’t go back until the laws will be repealed.

Sharanpreet Singh, Ranjeet Singh, and Amritpal Singh of Jalandhar have equipped their tractor-trailer with an air conditioner. They said that they will not step back till the laws will be repealed.
