Frustrated Farmers Brought Bear Costume of Rs 4000 To Protect Sugarcane From Monkeys

Farmers in Jahan Nagar, Lakhimpur Khiri, Uttar Pradesh caught in a bear costume to protect their sugarcane crops from monkeys. Farmers say the concerned authority does not pay attention to their requests.

The agriculture industry has been revolutionized and advanced in the last few years. Several techniques and instruments have been introduced to farmers in order to protect crops from wild animals and birds.

Several farmers still choose traditional tricks and methods to prevent their crops whether it is from insects or wild animals like bison, wild pigs, deer, monkeys, or even parakeets. In a few Indian villages, farmers use humanoid scarecrows placed in the field to protect their crops. Recently, a farmer from Jahan Nagar village located in Lakhimpur Khiri, Uttar Pradesh has seen in a bear costume in order to protect his sugarcane crop from monkeys.

During an interview with the media, a farmer hailing from Jahan Nagar village expressed his frustration with the lack of response from the authorities regarding the issue. Despite providing them with information, no action was taken. In response, the farmer and his fellows collectively purchased a bear costume for Rs. 4,000 as a means of protecting their sugarcane crops.

The farmer also shared that approximately 40-45 monkeys were freely roaming the area and causing significant damage to their agricultural produce. Despite making appeals to the authorities for assistance, their concerns were disregarded. Hence, the farmer and his peers pooled their resources to acquire the bear costume, aiming to deter the monkeys and protect their valuable crops.
