Murugesh Nirani, Minister for Medium and Heavy Industry, stated in Belagavi on Friday that the state government will work to encourage young entrepreneurship.
Budding Businesses To Get Access To subsidized Land
Aside from easy loans, the State Government will ensure that budding businesses have access to subsidized land. The State Government will collaborate with trade associations and universities to guarantee that budding entrepreneurs receive mentoring from industry veterans. Students who have finished ITI, engineering, MBA, and other professional courses will be guided by the State Government.
He was addressing after the inauguration of Udyami Lagu, Udyoga Needu [Be an Entrepreneur, Become an Employer] Trade Fair at Visvesvaraya Technological University. The programme, which intended to raise awareness among youth about establishing industries and enterprises, was a huge success, with over 11,000 students participating in both offline and online modes.
Training Programmes For Students In entrepreneurship Development
Short-term training programmes are among the schemes planned. "We will organize one-week to one-month training sessions in several areas for students who enroll in the entrepreneurship programme," he added.
He stated that particular efforts are being made to foster entrepreneurship among the impoverished and weaker sections of society.
The scheme for providing subsidized land to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes entrepreneurs will be expanded to include financially deprived groups. Those from economically marginalized groups will get incentives such as a 75 percent subsidy on land up to two acres in size.
The Minister spoke with the students and encouraged them to start their businesses, become self-sufficient, and create many possibilities for themselves and others.
He cited entrepreneurs Arvind Mellageri of Aequs and Vidya Murukumbi of Shree Renuka Sugars, who worked hard to build their companies and have now become well-known business leaders.
The Department of Industries and Commerce, and the state government hosted the event at VTU's Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium. Students from 125 institutions in Belagavi and its revenue area districts — Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Haveri, Jamkhandi, and Gadag — took part in the programme through video conferencing.
The day-long program aimed to provide a forum for technical students and young people to directly contact successful entrepreneurs and industry professionals to obtain information and learn about the State Government's various schemes and programmes. The programme also included motivating presentations for students. The event was formerly hosted at Kalaburagi.
