IMD Issues Orange Alert in Uttarakhand! Check Rainfall in Your State

The current period of rainfall is projected to continue over northwest India for the next several days under the influence of a western disturbance as a trough in mid-tropospheric westerlies, according to a statement from the IMD.

For the next few days, several areas of northwest India are expected to experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning, according to a warning from the India Meteorological Department (IMD)

The latest forecast from the weather service indicates that a strong rainstorm is likely to continue over portions of the northwest Indian plains, Uttarakhand on September 25 and 26, as well as Himachal Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh on September 25. 

According to a statement from the weather service, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Bihar on September 25 and Odisha on September 27 are very likely to have moderate to heavy downpours, isolated thunderstorms, and lightning.

On September 24 and September 24 and 25, 2022, there is a good chance that Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand could see isolated, very heavy rainfall. On September 25, 2022, SubHimalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may experience scattered, extremely heavy rainfall.

On September 25, the IMD statement continued, "quite widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and lightning is forecast over Arunachal Pradesh."

IMD further predicted that there would be "very widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers and thunderstorm/lightning quite possible over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh during September 23–25 and East Uttar Pradesh during September 23–25."

In addition, on Thursday, there was very heavy rain in a few isolated locations over Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, West Madhya Pradesh, and East Rajasthan. This week, there was also significant rainfall in regions of East Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Gujarat.
