IMD Issues 'Red Alert' for Karnataka, Extremely Heavy Rainfall in These Districts; Check Full Forecast Inside

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain will fall in several parts of India in the coming days. According to the weather service, heavy rains are expected to continue over southern and coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, and Odisha over the next five days. The IMD also predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan and Goa until August 10 and over Odisha until August 9.

According to the latest IMD forecast, heavy rains are expected to begin over Vidarbha on August 7, followed by Gujarat State, West Madhya Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal on August 8. Furthermore, extremely heavy rainfall is forecast for Madhya Maharashtra until August 10, Telangana and Chhattisgarh on August 8 and 9, east Madhya Pradesh on August 9, and Vidarbha on August 10.

In its weather bulletin, the Met department stated, "Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 06th & 07th; West Madhya Pradesh during 08th-10th; East Madhya Pradesh on 08th & 10th; Vidarbha during 07th-09th; Chhattisgarh on 06th, 09th & 10th; Gujarat Region on 08th; Saurashtra & Kutch on 08th & 09th; Marathwada on 09th & 10th August, 2022."

Intense rainfall activity is expected to begin today over Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh, and on August 7th over Vidarbha, Gujarat State, West Madhya Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal.

Extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Madhya Maharashtra from the 8th to the 10th of August, Telangana and Chhattisgarh on the 8th and 9th of August, East Madhya Pradesh on the 9th of August, and Vidarbha on the 10th of August 2022.

Showers are also expected in many parts of northeast India, Bihar, and West Bengal over the next few days. "Fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on the 6th, 9th, and 10th; Jharkhand on the 8th-10th; Odisha on the 10th; and Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on the 6th-10th of August 2022," predicted IMD.
