Weather Update: The Western Region is predicted to get scattered to fairly widespread rain or snowfall between February 8 and February 10, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The majority of locations over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, and a few locations over Himachal Pradesh saw light to moderate rainfall or snowfall.
In its weather forecast, the IMD stated: "In middle tropospheric westerlies, the Western Disturbance is visible as a trough roughly along Long. 68°E to the north of Lat. 30°N. Light isolated to somewhat widespread rainfall or snowfall is extremely possible throughout the Western Himalayan Region over the next 24 hours due to its effect."
Another western disturbance is anticipated to hit the Western Himalayan Region starting on February 8's evening. Between February 8 and 10, with a peak intensity on February 9, light to moderately widespread rainfall or snowfall is quite likely to affect the Western Himalayan Region.
On February 9 and 10, a thunderstorm and lightning are expected across the area, according to the MeT Department. On Thursday, the Kashmir Valley is also likely to have isolated heavy rain or snowfall. On February 9, sporadic light to moderate rainfall is also expected. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are expected to see sporadic thunderstorms with hail and lightning through February 7.
In the meantime, it is quite likely that minimum temperatures will drop by two to three degrees Celsius throughout northwest India over the next 48 hours before rising by two to four degrees Celsius after that. Over many areas of central India, no notable change in minimum temperatures is predicted over the course of the next three days, followed by a gradual rise of two to four degrees Celsius.
In the next four to five days, there won’t be a major shift in the minimum temperatures throughout the the nation. Isolated patches of very dense fog are quite likely to occur at night or in the morning over Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, West Assam and Tripura.
