The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday that a Western Disturbance is expected to hit the Western Himalayan Region on the night of April 12th, bringing a sigh of relief. During the 11th-13th of April, maximum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-3°C across most of Northwest India, according to IMD.
During the 11th and 13th of April, the intensity and distribution of the heatwave conditions over the plains of Northwest India are quite likely to decrease. From the night of April 12th, a new Western Disturbance is expected to hit the Western Himalayan Region (WHR).
Light to moderate rainfall is expected over the Western Himalayan Region on April 12 and 13. Dust-raising winds (20-30 kmph) are expected over Rajasthan on April 11-12. On the 10th and 11th of April, strong surface winds (25-35 kmph) are expected over southwest Uttar Pradesh.
Under the influence of strong south-westerly winds from the Bay of Bengal to the northeaster States at lower tropospheric levels, IMD predicted:
Over the next 5 days, widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is highly likely in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam-Meghalaya, and isolated/scattered rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Heavy rain is expected in Arunachal Pradesh on April 10, 13, and 14; in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim on April 9 and 10, and in Assam-Meghalaya on April 9 and 12.
On the 10th and 11th of April, very heavy rainfall is expected over Assam-Meghalaya. The influence of a trough/wind discontinuity over southern Peninsular India, according to IMD. South Kerala is expected to receive very heavy rainfall on April 9 and heavy rainfall on April 10.
On the 9th and 10th of April, significant rain will occur in Tamil Nadu's ghat areas.
Squally Weather (40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) is expected across the Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area, and Southwest Bay of Bengal on April 9th and 10th; Southeast Arabian Sea, and along and off Kerala coast on April 9th.
Fishermen have been advised not to enter certain areas by the International Maritime Organization (IMD). Heatwaves are expected to continue for the next five days in north-western India, including Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha.
IMD also stated that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are very likely in many parts of East Rajasthan on 9 and 10 April; in some parts on 11 April; and in isolated pockets on 12 and 13 April over East Rajasthan; severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over Punjab and Haryana, Delhi on 9-11 April; and severe heatwave conditions in some parts of West Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh on 09 and 10 April.
From the 11th to the 13th of April, the weather agency predicts a heatwave in some parts of West Madhya Pradesh.
Heat Wave conditions are very likely in some parts of East Madhya Pradesh over the next 5 days, and in isolated pockets over Jharkhand on the 9th and 10th; west Vidarbha over the next 5 days; over.
East Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh during the next 5 days; over Chhattisgarh from the 10th to the 13th April, over West Uttar Pradesh from the 11th to the 13th April; and over Punjab and Haryana, Delhi on the 12th and 13th April.
Severe heatwave conditions were seen in most regions of West Rajasthan and Haryana, as well as Delhi, according to an official release from the IMD.
During the same time period, Punjab, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra, and Kutch all had severe weather.
