According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall is expected across several southern states of India until April 15. According to the recent MeT department weather report, States and Union Territories such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, and Puducherry are likely to experience rain over the course of the next three days.
According to a tweet by the IMD, "Light fairly widespread/widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Kerala-Mahe and isolated/scattered rainfall over Tamilnadu-Puducherry-Karaikal, Lakshadweep area, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka."
Furthermore, the spatial extent is that the severity of heatwaves is likely to decrease over the northwestern regions of India beginning from April 13 and will continue over Madhya Pradesh over the next five days, according to the weather forecasting organization
Rainfall over the North-eastern States
Over the next 4 days, fairly widespread and light to moderate rainfall followed by lightning and thunderstorm is projected to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, and Nagaland according to the latest weather update by the IMD.
The rain will be caused by strong south-westerly wind gusts coming from the Bay of Bengal to the north-eastern states at lower tropospheric levels, as well as the cyclonic circulation with a trough updraft over west Assam and the surrounding area at lower tropospheric levels. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall starting April 13 until April 15. Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura are also forecasted to experience moderate to heavy rain from April 13 to 15.
Rainfall will also fall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on April 13, 2022. Due to the occurrence of the cyclonic circulation over the south-western Bay of Bengal until the next 5 days, light fairly widespread rainfall followed by thunderstorms and lightning is plausible over adjacent areas of north Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu and up to middle tropospheric levels
