Indian Meteorological Department Issues 4-Day Alert for Heavy Rainfall in Selected States

IMD announced alerts for varied weather patterns across India. It includes hailstorms in the North and heatwaves in the South.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for varying weather conditions across different states of India. In North India, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may experience hailstorms on April 18 and 19. Meanwhile, southern states such as Telangana, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan-Goa, and Saurashtra-Kutch have been put on heatwave alert from April 17 to April 20.

This diverse weather pattern has been attributed to a western disturbance affecting different regions of the country. As per the IMD, Kerala might witness heavy rainfall on April 18, while Delhi could experience light to heavy rain from April 18 to April 20.Further, the IMD has issued a hailstorm alert for several states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on April 18 and 19.

In terms of heatwave conditions, Telangana might see such conditions on April 17 and 18, 2024. Similarly, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal could experience heat waves from April 16 to April 20, 2024. Additionally, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may encounter isolated heatwave conditions on April 17 and 18, 2024.

With the IMD closely monitoring these weather developments, residents and authorities in the affected regions are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
