ITR Latest Update: Important Income Tax Return Filing Deadlines for 2021-22

It is critical that all taxpayers remember the deadline for filing income tax returns. The due date varies according to the taxpayer's category.

When it comes to income tax, there are certain mandatory tax formalities that must be followed within the specified dates, such as filing income tax returns on time, paying advance tax on time, and so on.

The following is the Tax Calendar for FY 2021-22 (AY 2022-23):

  • 15th June 2022: Due date for the first installment of advance tax for the FY 2022-23.

  • 31st July 2022: Income tax return filing for FY 2021-22 for individuals and entities not liable for tax audit and who have not entered into any international or specified domestic transaction.

  • 15th September 2022: Due date for the second installment of advance tax for the FY 2022-23.

  • 30th September 2022: Submission of the audit report (Section 44AB) for AY 2022-23 for taxpayers liable for audit under the Income Tax Act.

  • 31st October 2022: ITR filing for taxpayers requiring audit (not having international or specified domestic transactions).

  • 31st October 2022: Submission of the audit report for AY 2022-23 for taxpayers having transfer pricing and specified domestic transactions

  • 30th November 2022: ITR filing for taxpayers requiring audit (not having international or specified domestic transactions).

  • 15th December 2022: Due date for the third installment of advance tax for the FY 2022-23.

  • 31st December 2022: Last date for filing a belated return or revised return for FY 2021-22.

  • 15th March 2023:  The fourth installment of advance tax is due for FY 2022-23. The due date for the whole amount of advance tax for FY 2020-21 for taxpayers covered under the presumptive scheme of Section 44AD and 44ADA.

 How to Pay the Advance Income Tax?

  • You can advance tax online at the Income Tax Online Portal.

  • Select "Click to pay tax online" from the "e-payment: Pay Taxes Online" section.

  • You'll be taken to the "e-Payment of Taxes" page.

  • To pay advance tax and self-assessment tax, select "CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280" and click on "proceed".

  • Now, select "Tax Applicable," "Type of Payment," and "Mode of Payment."

  • Now, enter information such as your permanent account number and assessment year.

  • Enter your address information and submit.
