Kejriwal Government To Develop 17 "World-Class Level" City Forests In National Capital

According to the official statement, "the Kejriwal government would fund the development of 5,000 parks in Delhi."

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, directed authorities on Wednesday to develop 17 city forests in the national capital into "world-class level" city forests.

"These world-class city forests will be developed across 17 places in Delhi, covering an area of around 3000 acres. In 15 days, a detailed plan will be developed and submitted to the Chief Minister "According to an official statement issued on Wednesday.

As part of the Mukhyamantri Park Saundaryakaran Yojna, 1,500 parks are being converted in conjunction with 450 Resident Welfare Association (RWAs) as part of a one-of-a-kind community parks initiative.

The Delhi Parks and Gardens Society, in conjunction with local RWAs, NGOs, and MLAs, is developing parks spanning 500 acres.

Kejriwal Govt To Fund Parks Development

According to the official statement, "the Kejriwal Government would fund the development of 5,000 parks in Delhi."

In Delhi, 16,828 parks will be surveyed as part of the scheme. Currently, 6,396 parks have been surveyed. Among them, 3,565 parks have been recognized as being insufficiently maintained. Following an assessment of all areas, suitable steps will be taken, with the assistance of RWAs/NGOs, to develop them into world-class parks.

"Under its vision for Delhi@2047 to make Delhi a contemporary, equitable, and sustainable city, the Kejriwal Government has started the Community Parks Initiative to turn Delhi's neighborhood parks into modernized, world-class parks," according to an official statement.

Environment and Inhabitants Both To get Benefited

These parks will not only benefit the environment, but also the entire quality of life for Delhi inhabitants.

The parks are expected to have public amenities such as adequate lighting, CCTVs, toilets, a dedicated play area for small kids, children, and adolescents with child-friendly playground equipment, open-air gyms, gazebos, encased seating area, walking, jogging, and bicycle tracks, water bodies, composting, rainwater harvesting, irrigation supply, power backup, and native trees, flowers, and shrubs.
